Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 8 September 2025
These Terms & Conditions govern how Carbon Legacy Ltd supplies products and services (for example: solar PV, heat pumps, batteries and related works). By accepting a quote, placing an order, or using our website, you agree to these terms.
1) About Us

2) Scope
- These terms apply to sales, surveys, installations, and aftercare supplied by Carbon Legacy Ltd.
- If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights under UK law; nothing here affects those rights.
- If you are buying for a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business.
3) Quotes, Surveys & Assumptions
- Quotes are based on information available at the time (site details, drawings, photos, usage data) and are typically valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- Quotes may assume reasonable access, standard working hours, and that no hidden conditions exist (e.g., asbestos, dangerous wiring, structural defects).
- We may conduct a site survey. If conditions differ from assumptions, we’ll discuss variations before work proceeds.
4) Orders & Contract Formation
- A binding contract forms when you accept our written quote/Order Form (including any schedules) and pay any specified deposit.
- Any drawings, images, or brochures are for general guidance only.
- We can reject or cancel an order if pricing or availability errors occur; any payments will be refunded in that case.
5) Price, VAT & Payment
- Prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable, unless stated otherwise.
- Deposits and staged payments may be required (e.g., deposit on order, interim on delivery, balance on commissioning).
- Invoices are due on the dates shown. Late payments may accrue interest at the statutory rate and reasonable recovery costs.
- Goods remain our property until paid in full (see “Risk & Title”).
6) Grants, Certifications & Approvals
- If you ask us to assist with incentives (e.g., Boiler Upgrade Scheme), you authorise us to share required information with the scheme administrator Ofgem.
- If applicable, installations may be registered under relevant certification schemes (e.g., MCS), subject to eligibility and successful commissioning.
- Grid notifications/approvals (e.g., G98/G99) may be required; we may submit to your Distribution Network Operator (DNO). Approval timescales are outside our control.
- Grant availability, values and rules can change; no guarantee is given that funding or approvals will be granted.
7) Planning, Permissions & Site Requirements
- You are responsible for obtaining any necessary landlord/freeholder consents and planning permissions unless we explicitly agree in writing to handle them.
- You must provide safe access, power, and a clear working area. We may refuse to work if the site is unsafe.
- You must disclose known hazards (e.g., asbestos). Additional costs for remediation, testing, or specialist attendance are chargeable if not included.
8) Delivery, Installation & Timescales
- Delivery and installation dates are estimates. We’ll keep you updated and aim to minimise delays.
- We may make minor changes to components (equivalent or better specification) where supply issues arise, without reducing performance.
- We are not liable for delays caused by third parties or events outside our control (see “Events Outside Our Control”).
9) Variations & Extras
- Unforeseen works (e.g., additional scaffolding, structural reinforcement, consumer unit upgrades) will be discussed and priced as variations.
- Variations must be agreed in writing before we proceed.
10) Performance Estimates
- Any energy-yield or savings figures are estimates only. Actual results depend on weather, shading, occupancy, usage, tariffs, and equipment operation.
- No guarantee is given that estimated yields, savings, or payback periods will be achieved.
11) Warranties & Aftercare
- Manufacturer warranties apply to products; terms vary by manufacturer. We will supply or signpost the relevant warranty documents.
- Our workmanship warranty covers installation to a reasonable standard for the stated period in your Order Form or completion documents.
- Warranties may be void if equipment is misused, altered by others, not maintained, or operated contrary to guidance.
- Routine maintenance (e.g., filter changes, servicing) is your responsibility unless a maintenance package is purchased.
12) Risk, Title & Insurance
- Risk in goods passes to you on delivery to site or installation (as specified). Title passes only when we receive full payment.
- Until title passes, you must keep goods safe and insured and not sell or encumber them.
13) Cancellation & Cooling-Off (Consumers)
- If you are a consumer buying remotely or off-premises, you may have a 14-day cooling-off period from contract acceptance.
- You may ask us to start work within the cooling-off period; if you then cancel, you must pay for work performed and any non-returnable items already ordered to your specification.
- Bespoke or clearly personalised goods may not be cancellable once ordered, where permitted by law.
- To cancel, email info@carbonlegacy.co.uk or call 01664 822499.
14) Returns (Goods Only)
- For goods supplied without installation, returns are accepted only if authorised in writing, unused, in original packaging, and within the specified timeframe.
- Restocking and collection fees may apply. Bespoke or special-order items are non-returnable unless faulty.
15) Liability
- We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be limited.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (e.g., loss of profit, revenue, or use), or for losses arising from factors beyond our control (weather variance, grid outages, tariff changes, third-party actions).
- Subject to the above, our total liability for direct loss shall, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the price paid under the relevant contract.
16) Events Outside Our Control
- We are not liable for delays or failure caused by events we can’t reasonably control, including extreme weather, supply-chain disruption, strikes, epidemics, regulatory changes, DNO or grant body delays.
- We will inform you and take reasonable steps to minimise the impact. Timelines may be extended accordingly.
17) Website Use
- Website content is for general information and may change without notice.
- Links to third-party sites (e.g., Ofgem, MCS) are provided for convenience; we don’t control their content.
- Use of our website is subject to our Privacy Policy.

- Disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
